In a previous post (Does Foreign Aid Work?) we mentioned the debate between Jeffrey Sachs and William Easterly. They have reviewed each other’s books. Enjoy!
Here is Easterly’s review of Sachs, “Sachs’ proposed Big Push should set off alarm bells about the dangers of hubris in economics.”
Here is Sachs’ review of Easterly (in The Lancet, of all places), “…the path to success will not be found in Easterly’s unhelpful volume.”
Here is Easterly’s response to Sachs, “Unlike Sachs, however, I believe that fixing the economics of aid is necessary for the goods to reach the poor.”
This is amazing how their disagreements have unfolded in the public, especially since they both basically want the same thing: for Africa to do well.
[...] more a Sachs guy myself, but a robust debate is good for everyone isn’t [...]
Here’s a humorous take on the Sachs-Esterly-Moyo “debate”
